LEWISTON — A veterans event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at 1155 Lisbon St.

The Cities of Lewiston and Auburn VSO welcome home all Vietnam veterans and thank them for their service to the country and their community. Services for veterans and their families will be provided in the parking lot at 1155 Lisbon St.

Participating organizations include the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans National Service Officer, American Red Cross and the Veterans Health Administration.

L/A CBOC will sign up veterans for medical care. The Lewiston Vet Center will be on hand. The vet centers were created for returning Vietnam vets.

Also present will be the American Cold War Veterans, the Vietnam Veterans of America with their colors and L/A Maine Military Community Network will have the Armed Forces Community Covenant for all to sign, pledging support for military families and veterans in the tri-county area.

All veterans and family members are invited.

The hot dog man will be there.

This event is sponsored by all participating agencies, Tri-County Mental Health/Vista.

Vietnam vets who preregister will receive a certificate from Maine Veterans Services.
