AARP group to meet July 14

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, July 14, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.

Lunch will be served at noon and will feature ham and cheese quiche with a fruit plate. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by Friday, July 11.

The business meeting will begin at 12:45 and members are reminded to bring donations for the Food Pantry. The group will also be firming up plans for the August outing.

The program will feature Larry Glatz, who will speak on the Indians of Oxford County.

The meeting will conclude with a book/puzzle swap.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners of the quarterly club championship at the Lewiston Armory on June 30 were as follows: first in A and B, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; second, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; third in A, second in B, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; fourth in A, third in B, first in C, Norma and Rick Verrill; second in C, Richard Balian and Jim Krainin.

Winners on July 1 were: first, Hazel Glazier and Pete Cummings; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third, David Lock and Mike True.

Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for more information.

New pre-K at Hebron Station School

HEBRON — Hebron Station School is seeking applications for 4-year-old children for a pre-K classroom.

Children who will be 4 years old on or before Oct. 15 are eligible to apply. This program is open to Hebron residents and is funded by MSAD 17, so there are no household income restrictions.

The full-day program meets every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to start the school year, then drops to Tuesday and Thursday mid-year. It will follow the district’s school calendar.

Interested parents should call Principal Melanie Ellsworth at 592-4174 for an application packet. Deadline for applications is July 18. If more than 13 children apply, there will be a lottery to determine who will be enrolled.
