On Saturday, July 19 the Upton Historical Society is sponsoring a daylong tour of Forest Lodge and the Winter House where “We Took to the Woods” was written by Louise Dickinson Rich. The tour includes round-trip transportation and a delightful box lunch prepared by the Upton Ladies Aid complete with drink and dessert.
See exquisite views of the remote Rapid River, the Winter House “wallpaper” as well as Louise’s typewriter and personal book collection.
Vans leave from Upton School House at 8 a.m. and return about 5:30 p.m. Donation is $65 per person. Take advantage of a rare opportunity and benefit a nonprofit group attempting to maintain one of Maine’s true treasures.
