Emera Maine line crews worked through the overnight hours to restore service to customers knocked off line by tropical storm Arthur. The damage was significant from northern Aroostook County to hardest hit Washington and Hancock Counties where toppled trees and tree limbs brought down power lines. Additional line workers from Massachusetts as well as tree trimming crews arrived late Saturday night and will join Emera Maine crews first thing this morning to help speed restoration efforts.
As of this morning, more than 10,000 customers were still without power. Based on the level of damage in various parts of the service territory, restoration times are now as follows: Bangor area/Penobscot county, Northern Penobscot/Piscataquis county and Aroostook county: by end of day today (Sunday); Hancock county: by end of the day Monday; Washington county/Machias area: by end of the day Tuesday.
