Jamee Luce, director of the Robotics Institute of Maine, along with a student leader of the First Robots Team from Messalonskee High School introduced St. Dominic Academy students to robotics recently. This coming school year, the academy will offer a Vex Robotics course to any sophomore, junior or senior as a science elective. The one-semester course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of robotics. Hands-on training and integrated classroom activities designed specifically from programming and building robots applies science, technology engineering and math concepts. Students had the opportunity to operate robots, one of which could shoot a Frisbee over 25 feet.
