LEWISTON — Androscoggin Bank’s MainStreet Foundation is accepting applications for its $25K for Kids annual grant through July 31.

MainStreet Foundation awards this special gift to one nonprofit organization that will use the funding to benefit at-risk youth in Maine, with a focus on the “essentials” of life: food, shelter and security.

The grant program began in 2013 when Androscoggin Bank made a special $100,000 donation to the MainStreet Foundation, recognizing a need for at-risk kids in Maine to be safe, healthy, active, happy, educated and nourished.

A winner will be announced at MainStreet Foundation’s November Board meeting.

The winner of the 2013 award was the Good Shepherd Food-Bank. The funding was used specifically for their weekend food backpack program in Lewiston area schools.

In addition to the annual $25K for Kids, MainStreet Foundation also awards impact grants of up to $5,000 four times each year to organizations actively working to help kids thrive.
