1958 – 2014

LEWISTON — Raymond A. Mercier, 55, of Central Avenue in Lewiston, died Saturday, July 12, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 26, 1958, a son of the late Alphonse and Rose (Laprise) Mercier. He was educated in local schools and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army. Ray worked for many years at Seltzer and Rydholm, until his health no longer allowed him to work.

He enjoyed taking rides on his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, cooking, grilling and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He was a handy man, especially when it came to carpentry, and would help anyone in need.

He leaves his four daughters, Jessica Charest and husband, Glenn, of Lewiston, Heather Gosselin and husband, Michael Michaud, of Sabattus, Virginia Fobler and husband, Christian, of Germany and Sarah Danse and husband, Tim, of Lewiston; his fiancée, Linda Saucier, of Lewiston; three sisters, Madleine Poulin and husband, Marc, of Lewiston, Lucille Woodland and husband, Denis, of Florida and Denise Poulin and husband, Marcel, of Lewiston; a brother, Marcel Mercier and wife, Therese, of Monmouth; his nine grandchildren, Brandon, Kira, Dylan, Justin, Evan, Preston, Kinsley, Tim and Samara; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Lorette Pelletier and her husband, Roland.
