Lightning wrecked the house of Mazuel Lussier, 103 Third street, Auburn, during the heavy electrical storm of Friday night. The bolt entered the house thru an upper chamber window, striking the studding to the right, just as a boy was putting the window down. It struck him senseless and while he lay unconscious on the floor, the bolt whizzed thru the chamber door, struck the chimney, ripped thru the floor to the apartments below, thru the parlor and dining room, ripping the paper from the wall, shattering pictures and furniture and struck the hot water furnace in the basement. The furnace pipes were torn into pieces and the roof was strewn with bricks and mortar. P. W. Sturtevant, North Auburn, just escaped being struck by lightning, Friday evening, during the storm. He was painting a floor near the chimney, when he went to the window to watch the storm. Hardly had he left the chimney before it was struck by lightning. Bricks from the chimney were thrown about the yard and some damage done the interior of the house, atho no was injured.

The Lisbon Water Commission at its next meeting, on Aug. 2, will begin interviews to select a hydro-geologist, who will survey aquifers and search for additional water sources within the town. Funds for the project were approved at the annual town meeting in May, when voters authorized bonding $50,000. Although a shortage of water sources in Lisbon has not yet reached a critical stage, there may be problems in the future.
