LEWISTON – Artwalk Lewiston/Auburn has added more offerings that showcase the outstanding creativity and professionalism of the artists who represent the vibrant art scene here in the Twin Cities.The event takes place from 5-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, at more than 20 locations on downtown Lisbon Street.
To kick off the Artwalk, the Bates Dance Festival will be represented by a dance collective who will perform a fifteen-minute piece at 5:15 p.m. and repeat it at 5:45 p.m. at Dufresne Plaza (Callahan Hall backup location).
This will be followed by Tree Street Youth’s “From Our Hearts to Yours,” a culmination of original poetry inspired by individual workshops held by Def Jam Poetry’s Executive Producer Bruce George.
In addition, patrons may experience established and impromptu live musical performances, special art exhibits, and more.All evening long you can hear the music of Three Point Jazz at The Vault at 84 Lisbon Street.
To boost the outstanding work of our local visual artists, patrons may purchase from the fine works on disply. The Juke Joint Devils will perform at She Doesn’t Like Guthries on Middle Street. These guys take you back to a time when small house bands played from the soul, on real instruments, could swing like crazy, and anything could happen on stage.
Several exhibits will take place during the Artwalk including one at L/A Arts, 221 Lisbon Street, by Creative Trails, an innovative experiential community support program for adults with intellectual uniqueness. Also, an exhibit at Argo Marketing Gallery, 64 Lisbon Street, highlighting the work of local artist Frank O. Gross Jr. Gross is a lifelong resident of Lisbon. His favorite subjects are historical black-and-white photographs of the local area, which he renders in beautiful color.
