I commend officials of the Department of Health and Human Services for not asking for a waiver to eliminate the work requirement for Food Stamps. I am afraid that the Democrats I have seen on the news do not understand that it is a federal requirement (as it should be).
It is not wrong for a recipient to work, do volunteering or take advantage of training. That is exactly what people out of work should be doing. Working or volunteering or training should be a requirement to help people get off Food Stamps and work toward self-sustainability.
It is not an entitlement program. It is supposed to be temporary until people are back on their feet.
