WINTHROP — Award-winning author and Editor Emeritus of Down East magazine

will speak at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Bailey Public Library, 39 Bowdoin Street. Doiron is the author of the bestselling Mike Bowditch series of crime novels, including “The Poacher’s Son” and his latest, “The Bone Orchard.” The event is free and open to the public. Apple Valley Books will have copies of Doiron’s novels for sale at the event.

A native of Maine, Doiron attended Yale University, where he graduated with a degree in English, and he holds an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College. He is a former member of the Maine Arts Commission and a current member of the Maine Humanities Council. He is a registered Maine guide specializing in fly fishing and outdoor recreation and lives on a trout stream in coastal Maine.
