FARMINGTON — A memorial Mass for Paul Francis Sproul, “Bucky,” of Farmington, was held Monday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farmington, with the Rev. Joseph Daniels officiating.

Prior to Mass, a family prayer service was held at Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Routes 2 and 27, Farmington. Paul’s grandson, Ryan Schwartz, was the urn bearer. Therese Therrien was the organist and the processional hymn was “Amazing Grace.” His daughter, Lee Jane Libby, led the singing of the Responsorial Psalm, “You Are Near.” The offertory hymn was “Be Not Afraid” and the communion hymn was “I Am The Bread of Life.”

The first reading, Isaiah, Chapter 43, Verse: 1-3, 4-5, was recited by Valerie Morian and the second reading, Revelation 21:1-5a, 6b-7, was offered by Jamison Schwartz. The gifts were presented by Marilyn and Kenneth Knapton.

At the conclusion of Mass, a personal eulogy was shared by his son, Joel Sproul. Following Mass, a comfort reception was held at the parish hall, hosted by the Altar Guild.

Public graveside services were held later in the week on Thursday, Aug. 7, at noon, at the New Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, with Rhonda Wiles-Rosell as the celebrant. Robert Underwood, “Doc,” was the bagpiper and played “Amazing Grace” and “Going Home.” Military honors were provided by the Air Force Reserve. Arrangements were in the care of Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
