Knitters to celebrate birthday

PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet for a birthday celebration at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Maurice’s Restaurant.

Those who plan to attend should call Buffy at 539-2518. The group will not meet at the church in September. Regular meetings will continue in October.

Members are asked to bring their prayer shawls to the meeting for the Oxford County Fair. They will be presented to Don Mayberry after the fair.

New members are always invited to attend meetings. For more information, call Nason at 539-2518.

West Paris food pantry

WEST PARIS — The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St.

The pantry is open the first and third Tuesdays of each month. West Paris residents are invited to come once a month.

Spurrs Corner food pantry hours

OTISFIELD — The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The pantry is open to residents of Otisfield on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. For information call 583-4780 or 627-4329.

PARIS — The Floyd A. Harlow Jr. VFW Post 9787 will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 58 East Main St.

Duplicate bridge winners listed

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Friday morning at the Recreation Building, King Street, when a nine-table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in flight A N/S were Hazel Glazier,  Norway, and Rosemarie Goodwin, Lewiston; second, Eilene Potvin, Cundys Harbor, and Della Starbird, Oxford, who also were first in flight B; third, Claire Lyons, Lewiston, and Cynthia Clifford, Lewiston, who were second in flight B; fourth, Bill Clifford, Lewiston, and Les Buzzell, Auburn.

Finishing third in flight B were Norma and Rick Verrill, Westbrook; finishing first in flight C, Milton McKeen, Bridgton, and Jim Krainin, Naples; second, Marjorie Levesque, Raymond, and Laura Chandler, Raymond.

Finishing first in flight A E/W were Mike Quinn, Otisfield, and Mike True, Auburn; second, Neenie Kivus, Lewiston, and David Lock, Greene; third, Nancy Farmer, Norway; and Richard Balian, Waterford; fourth, Karla Adasse, Raymond, and David Kallander, Raymond, who were first in flights B and C.

Second in flight B were Georgette Jewell, Norway, and Pat Soule; third, Carol Curran, Waterford, and Cathy Sanderson, Waterford, who also were second in flight C; third in flight C, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr, South Paris.
