Seniors to hold basket raffle

AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the American Legion Hall, 426 Washington St.

President Sue Patneaude will conduct the meeting. The board meeting will be at 10 a.m. There will be a basket raffle after the meeting, and members are reminded to bring their baskets.

To rent a table for the fall fair and flea market to be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, call Jan Biron at 333-6601, ext. 2108.

Fall quilting classes to start

MONMOUTH — Autumn quilting classes will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Packard Center.  The classes will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 11.

Patterns to be taught will be the four-square chain quilt and the flamingo fling baby quilt. Cost will be $30.

The four-patch quilt pattern is a classic block using three colors, 60×60 w/o borders. Flamingo fling baby quilt is quick, cute and uses a variety of simple piecing.

Vendor fair to be held at Legion

MECHANIC FALLS — A Back To School Vendor Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at American Legion Post 150, 41 Elm St. There will be a free kids table, vendor raffle and 50/50.

New Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — The New Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at noon Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Sacred Heart Church. The meeting will be followed by a light lunch and bingo. Cost will be $3.

Dinners take place on the third Wednesday of the month and members are reminded to buy tickets at the first meeting of the month or the following Wednesday.

A lobster meal will take place Sept. 17. Cost will be $8, bake; $5, lobster roll; $4, crabmeat roll; $4, chicken fingers; $4, haddock.  A drawing for free meals will be held at 11 a.m.

SAD 59 to hold variety of classes

TURNER — SAD 52 Adult and Community Education will hold several enrichment classes this fall.

Many classes start the week of Sept. 15. New offerings include Ballroom Dance, Self-Defense for Women and Little Dragons Karate.

Favorites returning include Beyond the Point & Shoot Camera, Brick Block & Stone, GPS Map & Compass Basics, Dog Obedience, Yoga, Reiki, Tumbling, Zumba, Meet Your Guardian Angel and Meet Your Spirit Guide.
