Knights’ supper details updated
SABATTUS — The Knights of Columbus of the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish will sponsor a baked beans and casserole supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Our Lady of the Rosary, 131 High St.
Proceeds will benefit parish programs.
Contributions for the complete supper including desserts and beverages are $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12.

APL bimonthly knitting group
AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will begin hosting a bimonthly knitting the second and fourth Monday of the month from September through May on Monday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. beginning Sept. 8.
This will be an informal drop-in knitting group and will be held in the Maggie Trafton program room on the first floor of the library.
Knitters of all ages and skill levels are invited. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The library will have some yarn, patterns and needles for those just beginning to knit. More experienced knitters are encouraged to bring their projects.

Lewiston Fortier Council
LEWISTON — Members of Royal Arcanum Chap. 52 (Association Canado-Americaine) will gather for the new year of 2014-15. The group will resume their monthly meetings at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the Lewiston Armory, 195 Central Ave.
After business, a social hour with snacks and drinks will be offered, All are welcome.

Widows Fellowship to meet Sept. 8
LISBON — The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the United Methodist Church, School Street.
A potluck lunch will take place.
All interested widows in the area are invited to attend.
The group meets the first Monday of each month. If it falls on a holiday, they meet on the second Monday.
Lakeside OES to meet Sept. 9
WALES – On Sept. 9, Lakeside Chapter No. 60 will meet at the Grange/Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road, at 7 p.m. Lakeside will be “Honoring Our Widows” at the meeting.
The District 4 “Traveling Cuddlies,” a teddy bear and a moose, symbolizing the Grand Chapter Charity Fund and the Fight For the Cure of Alzheimer’s, left for Auburn with the members of Pine Cone Chapter which had the most members present at the August ESTARL Supper.
All seven chapters in the district were represented. Where will the “cuddlies” go next? The chapter with the most members in attendance at Pine Cone on Sept. 11 will take them home.
Members throughout the district are being asked for ideas for a charity basket for the fall event in November.
Ladies officers are asked to wear colored gowns, gentlemen either tuxes or dark suits. Refreshments will be provided by Ruth, Clarinda and Tony.

Golden Age Club to meet Sept. 9
AUBURN — The next monthly meeting of the IHM Golden Age Club will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Sacred Heart Church.
Menu will be shepherd pie and desserts. Cost is $5 per person. Call 576-4082 to make reservations.
Games will be available from 11 a.m. to noon. Board members will meet at 10:45 for a short meeting.

LEWISTON — Franco-American War Veterans Post 31 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Lewiston Armory, Seniors Room, 65 Central St.
Nomination and election of officers for the 2014-15 year will take place.
Dillingham DAR to meet Sept. 10
AUBURN — The Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at the summer home of Bea Hodgkin on Cove Road at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.
The guest speaker will be Ray Cornelius, a WWII veteran. Bring a salad, a sandwich tray or selection of snacks to share. Prospective members are welcome.

Auction to aid Dempsey Challenge
PARIS — Dempsey Challenge team Matt’s Angels will hold the second annual Dempsey Challenge Benefit Ticket Auction on Friday Sept. 12, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
There will be many items, as well as a dollar table, a 50/50 drawing and a food booth with homemade treats.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and ticket drawing will begin at 7.
It will be a night of fun, winning and support of the Dempsey Center.
