BOOTHBAY —The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office identified the Madison, Connecticut, couple who were killed in a crash on Route 27 in Boothbay on Friday.

Donald Hudson, 85, was driving a 2006 GMC Envoy, with his wife, Doreen Hudson, 67, riding as a passenger, at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle, according to a police investigation. The car left the roadway, traveled into a ditch, struck an embankment and flew into the air, striking a utility pole and several trees before coming to rest on its roof.

Both victims died at the scene. They were wearing seat belts.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which was reported by several callers just after 10:30 a.m.

The sheriff’s office said their family in Connecticut was notified.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or had contact with the victims before the crash should contact Deputy First Class Brian Collamore at 882-7332, a press release said.
