WISCASSET (AP) — A Union man has been arrested after leading police on a high speed chase in an allegedly stolen car.
Police told WGME-TV that 23-year-old Anthony Baker took off when an officer tried to pull him over for speeding in Wiscasset at about 4 a.m. Sunday.
The chase north on U.S. Route 1 ended in Nobleboro when officers deployed spike strips in the road to flatten the vehicle’s tires.
Police say Baker’s car had been stolen from his sister and he had a rifle and two knives in the vehicle, which he is not allowed to have under terms of his probation.
He was taken to jail and faces several charges, including eluding a police officer and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
