1938 – 2014
HAYES, Va. — Jackie Landry, formerly of Lewiston, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 25, after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 10, 1938, to Leon and Bernadette Rancourt.
Jackie met her soul mate, Rudolph A. Landry, also of Lewiston, and they were married on Nov. 27, 1954. The couple moved to Connecticut in the early 1960s, where they raised three children, returning to Maine in 1979.
Jackie was a member of the East Auburn Baptist Church, worked for Knapp Shoe, and later for Geiger Brothers. She loved to play bingo, card games, and do puzzles, but her favorite pastime was challenging her family in a game of Scrabble in which she seldom lost.
In later years Jackie moved to Virginia, where her son and daughter-in-law welcomed her into their home, where she enjoyed the company of family, until her passing.
Jackie is survived by her children, Claire (Thomas) Girardin of Michigan, Jeanne Landry of Fayette, and John (Cindy) Landry of Hayes, Va.; six grandchildren, Crystal, Neal, Corey, Jessica, Ian and Jasmine; three great-grandchildren, Faith, Rachelle and Cooper. Also surviving is her brother, Rene Rancourt of S. Natick, Mass., two sisters, Carmen (Glenn) Foster of Turner, and Venise (Harry) Mitchell of York; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband.
