LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Elizabeth “Betty” S. Clifford was celebrated Wednesday morning, Oct. 8, by the Rev. Richard Clifford, SJ, and concelebrated by the Rev. Stephen Concannon at Holy Family Church of the Prince of Peace Parish.

At the entrance of church, Betty’s daughters, Alice Clifford and Anne Marie Schukraft, draped their mother’s casket with a white burial pall signifying Betty’s baptism into a new spiritual life with God.

The Old Testament reading from the Book of Wisdom was presented Betty’s granddaughter, Sahra, and the New Testament reading from the Romans by Betty’s grandson, Liam Harrigan. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by Betty’s son-in-law, Terence Harrigan. Words of remembrance were shared by Betty’s brother-in-law, Justice Robert Clifford, and also by Betty’s granddaughter, Briana Schukraft. The bearers were Randal, Matthew and Sahra Schukraft, as well as Terence, Liam and Maeve Harrigan.

Following a funeral procession to Mount Hope Cemetery, the Rev. Clifford recited committal prayers at the family gravesite. At the conclusion of services, all were invited to a reception of fellowship at Marco’s Restaurant in Lewiston. Arrangements were by Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home in Lewiston.
