PORTLAND — Columbus Day weekend is here and fall colors are beginning to appear along much of the Maine coast.
In its weekly fall foliage report, the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry says fall colors are hitting peak levels throughout southern Maine from Fryeburg to the Waterville area and along the coast from Bar Harbor to Calais.
The foliage along the southern coast from Kittery to Bucksport is reaching 50 to 70 percent peak while northern Maine is already past its peak.
