ROCKPORT (AP) — The death of a Maine prison inmate is under investigation but authorities said it does not appear suspicious.

The state Department of Corrections said 51-year-old Steven Holloway, an inmate at the Maine State Prison in Warren, died Sunday morning at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Per protocol, state police and the state medical examiner’s office are reviewing the death.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Holloway had been battling cancer.

Holloway served about 15 years in prison on a manslaughter conviction for the 1998 shooting death of 68-year-old Albert “Sonny” Parker Jr. in Wilton. He was scheduled to be released in October 2018.
