Jared Golden and Nate Libby will be two outstanding legislators for Lewiston.
Libby gained his political experience as a city councilor and state representative. Golden served with the Marines in Afghanistan and Iraq, later worked in Afghanistan, and then on the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
Despite their different routes to Augusta, they also have much in common. Both are from working-class Maine households. They attended Bates College, thanks to a need-based scholarship (in Libby’s case) or veterans’ benefits (in Golden’s). I was lucky to teach them there and I saw in both a deep commitment to using what they learned to improve people’s lives.
Since graduation, through their work locally, nationally and internationally, they have acted on those commitments.
Lewiston will be fortunate to have their leadership, sharp minds and extensive experience in the Legislature.
