BRUNSWICK — Roy A. Vreeland, 75, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, from congestive heart failure.

He graduated from John Bapst High School in 1957 and the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., in 1962. Upon graduation, he was selected for flight training in Pensacola, Fla., and after completion, was assigned to Patrol Squadron 26 in Brunswick from 1964 to 1968.

While in Brunswick, he served deployments to Newfoundland and Iceland. After that, he was assigned as a flight instructor in Corpus Christi, Texas, for one year before separation from the Navy as a lieutenant.

After his service in the Navy, he worked in the computer industry until he retired in 1996.

He is survived by his former wife and friend, Diane L. Vreeland; a son, John A. Vreeland; a daughter, Carol Vreeland Null; and son-in-law, Jacob V. Null, all of Bar Harbor; and a sister, Adelle M. Vreeland of Lakeside, Ariz.
