1929 – 2014

AUBURN — Anne Loretta Cunningham, 85, of Rumford, passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born in Rumford on Sept. 22, 1929, a daughter of Antonio and Saveria Umbro. She attended St. Athanasius School and Stephens High School.

Anne worked for 15 years for Ethyl Corp. and Oxford Paper Co., and had a private cleaning service, retiring at age 83, with clients including Nick and Dot Puiia, Dick and Jolene Lovejoy and Dr. Orino.

She enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers and watching the Olympics, and was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church. Anne most enjoyed her family and watched her children at many sports events. She also enjoyed knitting, which included knitting mittens for the kids in the neighborhood.

Anne is survived by three sons, Peter Cunningham of Rumford, Randy Cunningham of Gray and Tom Cunningham of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Teresa Merchant and her husband, Ralph, of Scarborough, Mary Marsters of Wilton, Cecilia Umbro of Auburn, Josephine Umbro of Rumford and Jane Langlin and her husband, Bernard, of Livermore; two brothers, Pasquale Umbro of Lewiston and Lucian Umbro of Beverley, Mass.; and a sister-in-law, Joan Umbro.

She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Vito, Anthoney and Joseph Umbro.
