1918 – 2014

LEWISTON—Laura Gagne, 96, formerly of 20 Owen St., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 25, at d’Youville Pavilion with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on March 9, 1918, the daughter of William Sutton and Marie Denis Sutton. She was educated in local schools and was married in 1940 to Lucien A. Gagne, who predeceased her on Dec. 2, 1975.

During World War II, she worked at the South Portland shipyard as a welder and a crane operator. She later worked for the local shoe industry and was a shoe model for many years in several factories.

Laura was a member of Holy Family Church and enjoyed going to the beach and being with family and friends. Her hobbies were making ribbon flowers and crocheting.

She is survived by a son, Normand J. LeClair and his wife, Rolande of Lewiston; a daughter, Tania Doyon, and her husband, Michael, of Lewiston; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

We wish to thank the staff of D’Youville Pavilion and Androscoggin Health Care for all the dedicated care she was given.
