Supporting public education is about creating a quality tomorrow, and no one is better qualified to make sure that happens than state Sen. John Cleveland.
As former chair of the RSU 16 (Minot, Mechanic Falls, Poland) School Board, I applaud his support for universal pre-K education and an increase in state funding to 55 percent, as approved by voters in a referendum.
When he was city councilor and mayor of Auburn, he backed every budget proposed by the School Committee and has earned a 100 percent rating from the Maine Education Association.
Of crucial importance to the area where I live, Cleveland saw to it that the state funded Poland Regional High School and Whittier Middle School when Poland was unable to renew the contract to send its kids to Edward Little High School.
I endorse John Cleveland for re-election to the Maine Senate to continue that splendid record.
Dave Griffiths, Mechanic Falls
