RANGELEY — The Board of Selectmen plans to draft a letter asking residents to serve on the Sewer Commission and the Planning Commission.

Neither commission can legally function without the required number of members, and selectmen are not allowed to take over any commission duties.

If no one steps forward, voters at the June 2015 town meeting will have to discuss restructuring the groups, with no business being done between now and then.

Memberships on both commissions carry stipends, and interested people should contact Municipal Clerk Ethna Thompson at the Town Office.

Acting Town Manager Tim Pellerin asked for details on the Parks Commission’s duties and scope, which led to a discussion with the Parks Commission’s Sally Church, who asked for direction from the board. The group’s current mission statement is in draft form and has not been formally approved.

Selectmen have approved the Lakeside Park master plan, but the town has not yet approved funds. Board of Selectmen Chairman Dave Burgess suggested that the plan might be broken down into convenient units, such as a new park entrance, pedestrian entrance paths and bathhouse, for individual funding.

Sewer Commission member Keith Savage reported that the three new sewage pump station generators are running smoothly. After detailing the current budget outlays, the board gave permission to spend $7,690 for installation of new level trackers at all three pump stations.

Town Treasurer Rebecca Carmichael was granted quitclaim deeds for properties at 36 Pleasant St. and 59 Winter Road. She was also granted a sewer charge write-off, also at 36 Pleasant St.

The board awarded the town’s assessing contract to RJD Appraisals for a yearly fee of $68,000.

Thompson reported that a High Street resident has complained that her structure has dropped one inch during the roller compaction of the new street surface. Another homeowner has filed a notice of liability for structural damage, which is in the hands of the town’s insurance company.
