OLD TOWN (AP) — Republican Gov. Paul LePage says a company has signed papers to buy a paper mill in Old Town that shut down earlier this year.

WLBZ-TV reports that LePage declined Monday to say which company is buying the Old Town Fuel and Fiber mill. He says his administration plans to release more information soon.

The mill suspended operations and furloughed about 200 employees in August, saying that foreign competition and high wood and energy costs have made it too expensive to continue operating.

LePage also said Monday that there are three companies that are bidding for the Great Northern Paper mill in East Millinocket. Great Northern, which owns the mill, filed for bankruptcy in September.
