Denny Breau, left, and Justin Lindsay, 14, finish a set during the Lenny Breau Memorial Concert at the Franco Center in Lewiston on Sunday. Denny Breau of Lewiston and Lindsay of Scarborough are two of the more than two dozen Maine musicians who performed during “A Celebration of the Guitar” in memory of Denny’s brother, Lenny, a legendary guitarist who died 30 years ago. Money raised from the concert will go towards building a pergola-style structure at Pettingill School Park in memory of Lenny Breau. “The music that (Lenny) loved, you love and the community loves will continue,” Peggy Rotundo, a neighbor of the park, said. Lindsay was inspired by his grandfather, Ron Vachon of Lewiston, to start playing the guitar when he was six years old. “He is the future of blues in Maine,” Denny Breau said about Lindsay.
Sunday’s concert was the final memorial concert that Denny Breau will play for his brother, Lenny. Denny will continue to play fundraising concerts for the Friends of Pettingill Park, a group of volunteers who have created the Pettingill School Park on College Street in Lewiston.
Ron Bouffard, left, of Wales, Rich Keene of Westbrook, Jeff Taylor of Lewiston and Reggie Bouffard, far right on the keyboards, from Auburn perform with “Cold Fusion” during the Lenny Breau Memorial Concert at the Franco Center in Lewiston on Sunday.
