JAY — The following events are happening at Spruce Mountain High School this week.

Winter sports

The first day of winter athletic practices for girls and boys basketball and cheering will begin on Monday, Nov. 17. Alpine and Nordic ski practices will begin the following week.

NHS induction

The National Honor Society will host its induction ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the SMHS library.

Food bank

Mrs. Barbara Jewett’s classes for Jobs For Maine Graduates will help at the local food bank assisting in unloading food on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Student of the Month

There will be a Student of the Month assembly on Friday, Nov. 21. Department Awards will be presented and honor roll students for the first quarter will be recognized.

College, military visits

Representatives from the following will be at SMHS on the following dates to meet with interested seniors: Wednesday, Nov. 19, The Navy at 10:30 a.m.; Friday, Nov. 21, Lasell College at 10 a.m.
