FARMINGTON — Fire Rescue Chief Terry Bell on Tuesday night will present Regional School Unit 9 directors a proposal to use district property to build a fire training facility on Seamon Road.

The property is past Mt. Blue High School, before the practice field.

Tuesday’s meeting is at 7 p.m., Nov. 18, in the Forum at Mt. Blue Campus.

If permission is granted to use the property, some trees would be cleared, gravel hauled in and a concrete burn building could be built, Bell said. It would depend on getting grants and donations to move the project forward, he said.

The discussion on a training facility started in the beginning stages of the $65 million Mt. Blue building project. Mt. Blue High School and the Foster Career and Technical Education Center are housed at the campus. Foster offers a firefighting program for students.

The facility would be used for local firefighters, law enforcement and students, Bell said.

“My understanding is that this has been in the planning stages for a few years,” Superintendent Tom Ward said.
