LIMINGTON (AP) — Authorities have made an arrest in a hit-and-run in Limington that injured a teenage pedestrian.

The York County Sheriff’s office said 57-year-old Christopher Stevens of Limington was arrested Saturday, after he called the sheriff’s office to report hitting the girl.

Stevens told authorities that he thought he had hit a deer on Friday evening but after seeing news reports he suspected he may have hit 16-year-old Chelsey Jackson.

The sheriff’s office said Jackson suffered two broken legs, and injuries to her elbow and collarbone and was having leg surgery.

Stevens was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury vehicle crash and failure to report a motor vehicle crash by quickest means.

He was jailed on $500 bail.
