Republicans are threatening to impeach President Obama, and I am confused by the results of the midterm elections.

Consider:

• U.S. corporate profits are at a record high;

• Unemployment, nationally, is below 6 percent;

• U.S. gross national product growth is the best among members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation;

• The dollar is at its strongest level in years;

• The stock market is at or near a record high;

• Gasoline prices are falling;

• There is little inflation;

• Interest rates are the lowest in 30 years;

• U.S. oil production is rapidly increasing;

• The nation’s wealthy are still making astonishing amounts of money;

• America is leading the world again and is respected internationally, in sharp contrast to the George W. Bush years; and

• President Obama brought U.S. soldiers home from Iraq and ordered the death of Osama bin Laden.

Republicans voted for the party that got the country into the mess it was in — the mess President Obama just dug the nation out of.

That they now want to impeach him defies reason.
