AUBURN — Two of three men accused in September of trafficking in marijuana were indicted Tuesday by an Androscoggin County grand jury.
Caleb Hollatz, 29, of Livermore Falls and Benjamin Kahn, 34, of Livermore Falls were each indicted on a charge of felony unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs. Hollatz also faces criminal forfeiture of $3,900 believed to be related to the drugs.
Livermore Falls officers Lt. Joseph Sage and Stephen Gould began an investigation in September after a complaint of suspicious activity was reported on Campground Road in Livermore Falls. The officers recognized signs of a possible illegal marijuana-growing operation at Hollatz’s home and applied for a search warrant, Sage said at the time. Police and drug agents seized about 20 pounds of pot with an estimated street value of $40,000 to $50,000, he had said.
A conviction on the felony drug charge carries a penalty of up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine.
A third man, Shyam Khanna, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who also was charged with felony unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, was not indicted, according to the indictment list.
