1952 – 2014
DIXFIELD — Vance L. Martin, 62, of Dixfield, passed away in Alabama at his brother’s house on Nov. 24, five days after his brother, John.
Vance was born on April 27, 1952, the third son of Louis and Joan (Tardy) Martin.
After graduating from Dirigo High School, Vance entered the U.S. Air Force for four years. He then worked at Stowell’s and lastly at the Rumford Paper Mill. Vance enjoyed hunting, sports and NASCAR. He drove a car at Oxford for a few years.
Vance is survived by his siblings, Cheryl “Sherry” Martin of Peru, Arthur “Marty” Martin of Alabama and Malinda “Mindy” Brannan of Alabama; a special nephew, Kevin Averill, of Mexico; and nieces and nephews, Sharmayne Golden of Alabama, Kaylee Martin of Dixfield, John Martin of Augusta, Patrick and Corey Finnan of Rumford, Jamie Murphy of Canton, Leander Murphy of Alabama and Jeanny Overdorf of Dixfield.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, John Martin.
