GREENVILLE — Junior forward Alexis Bennett scored seven of her 11 points in the overtime frame to lift Buckfield to a 38-35 victory over Greenville in EWC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Lakers (1-4) legged out a 18-13 hafltime lead, but were shutout 8-0 in the third quarter by the Bucks (3-2). Senior guard Courtney Mann compiled 11 points for Greenville.

Brianna Damon recorded seven points and 11 rebounds for Buckfield.

Oxford Hills 38, Skowhegan 25

SKOWHEGAN — Anna Winslow scored a team-high 10 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 38-25 victory over Skowhegan in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Erin Eastman tossed three field goals from three-point range for the Vikings to contribute nine points along with teammate Mikayla Morin’s nine points.

Noah Stevens paced the Indians with 10 points, eight of which came in the second half.

Gray-NG 47, Lake Region 46

NAPLES — Sophomore guard Grace Kariotis poured in eight of her 11 points in the fourth quarter to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 47-46 squeaker over Lake Region in WMC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Patriots (6-0) trailed 24-20 at the half, but battled to a three-point lead in the third quarter. Senior forward Zoe Adams contributed 11 points for Gray-New Gloucester.

Junior guard Cece Hancock sank a pair of treys and collected five free throws to lead the Lakers (2-3) with 11 points, while sophomore guard Kristen Huntress added 10 points.

Wiscasset 30, Mt. Abram 16

SALEM — Senior guard Alecia Faulkingham pocketed a third of the Wolverine’s scoring with 10 points as Wiscasset coasted to a 30-16 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Freshman forward Megan Sorel and teammate Oliva Ryan posted team-high scoring with two field goals for four points each.

Mt. Blue 56, Brewer 22

FARMINGTON — After building an 11-point advantage in the first quarter, Mt. Blue raced away to post a 56-22 win over Brewer in a girls’ basketball tilt Saturday.

Caitlin Kane led the Cougars (3-1) with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Addie Brinkman chipped in with 12 points. Emilee Eustis also contributed with five steals and four assists.

Courtney Pearson led the winless Witches (0-5) with seven points, while Emily Lord added five.

Dirigo 52, St. Dom’s 43

AUBURN — Jessica Conant led a trio of players in double figures Saturday as Dirigo hustled to a 52-43 victory over St. Dom’s in MVC girls’ basketball action.

Conant lit the boards for 19 points, while Brittney Greig and Kelsey Hutchins each chipped in with 12.

The Saints (1-3) were paced by Faith Grady with a solid 17-point performance, while Chloe Dwinell added 10.

Lawrence 47, Edward Little 33

FAIRFIELD — After jumping out to a seven-point advantage in the first frame, Lawrence sped away to post a 47-33 KVAC win over Edward Little in girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Nia Irving led the undefeated Bulldogs (6-0) with 20 points, while Dominique Lewis tallied 16 and Paige Belanger added 10 in a well-balanced attack.

Emily Jacques paced the Red Eddies (4-2) with 11 points, their only player in double figures.

Girls’ hockey

Lewiston 6, Brunswick 0

LEWISTON — Corinne Labetge scored the first two goals as Lewiston sailed to a 6-0 victory over Brunswick in girls’ hockey action Saturday.

The Blue Devils received offensive support from Erika Lemieux, who had a goal and two assists. Lauren Deblois pitched in with a goal and assist as well.

Goalie Jordan Van Savage performed keeper duties for Brunswick. Meagan Gosselin worked the first and second periods for Lewiston, while Paige Fontaine maintained the shutout to close out the game in the third period.

Yarmouth-Freeport-GNG 2, Leavitt-Edward Little-Poland 1

AUBURN — Senior wing Emma Martineau scored a goal and an assist in the first period to lead Yarmouth-Freeport-Gray New Gloucester to a 2-1 victory over Leavitt-Edward Little-Poland in girls’ ice hockey action Saturday.

The Red Hornets (8-1) controlled the puck in the first period, but a number of penalties shifted the momentum to the Clippers (3-3) in the third frame. Jenny Holmquist managed to cut the deficit in half, but the clock ran out on the Clippers.

Greenville 52, Buckfield 44

GREENVILLE — After trailing by four at the end of the first frame, Greenville rallied back to come away with a 52-44 victory over Buckfield in an EWC boys’ basketball tilt Saturday.

Nick Foley led the Lakers (3-2) with 17 points, while Michael Vagnan chipped in with 14.

The Bucks (0-5) were paced by Jared Eastman with a solid 16-point effort, while Jake Kraske tallied 10 and Hunter Wiley added nine.

Mt. Abram 63, Wiscasset 48

NORTH ANSON — Quinton Hannah poured 19 points into the net and hauled down 14 rebounds to lead Mt. Abram to a 63-48 victory over Wiscasset on Saturday.

Tristen Dyer chipped in for the Roadrunners (2-4) with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Dan Luce contributed 11.

Brandon Sprague led the Wolverines (2-5) with 15 points, while Cody Roberts chipped in with 10.

Oxford Hills 63, Skowhegan 49

PARIS — Junior forward Tyus Ripley drained a team-high 16 points as Oxford Hills trudged to a 63-49 victory over Skowhegan in KVAC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

The Vikings (3-2) built a solid 34-21 halftime lead. Andrew Fleming registered a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for Oxford Hills.

Junior guard Isaac Witham produced a game-high 24 points for the Indians. Blake Slicer contributed 13 points and five assists, including two field goals from three-point range.

Lake Region/Oxford Hills/Fryeburg Academy 5,

Massabesic/OOB/Bonny Eagle 2

BRIDGTON — Lake Region/Oxford Hills/Fryeburg Academy Ice Cats had five different goal scorers in their 5-2 victory over Massabesic/Old Orchard Beach/Bonny Eagle on Saturday afternoon.

The Ice Cats goal scorers were Simon and Peter Misner, Huxley Lovering, Kaleb Currier and Bowen Greenleaf.

The teams were tied at two before the Ice Cats scored three times in the third period.

Kyle Whitman scored twice for Massabesic/Old Orchard Beach/Bonny Eagle.

EL 7, Poland-GNG-Oak Hill 2

AUBURN — Junior forward Matt Verrill scored a pair of goals as Edward Little dispatched Poland-Gray New Gloucester-Oak Hill 7-2 in the championship game of the 21st Annual Gipper’s Holiday Classic Saturday evening.

The Red Eddies were locked up 2-2 halfway through the second period when they managed to pull ahead by two before the close of the frame. Branden Dyer netted two goals and an assist for Edward Little.

Goalie Nick Hemond was busy in net for the 26er’s, making 45 saves in the contest. Sophomore forward Jason Cote secured a pair of goals for Poland-Gray New Gloucester-Oak Hill.

Lewiston 6, Law./Skowhegan 5

LEWISTON — Junior center Kyle Morin and sophomore wing Jean-Luc Dostie scored two goals each as Lewiston clinged to a 6-5 victory over Lawrence-Skowhegan in boys’ ice hockey action Saturday night at the Colisee.

The Blue Devils (3-1) took a 2-1 lead in the first period, but matched the Bandits goal for goal in each of the subsequent frames.

Forward Andrew Carpenter notched a hat trick for the Bandits.

Goalie Curtis Martin made 24 saves for Lawrence-Skowhegan, while goalie Jacob Strout turned away 20 shots to earn the win in net for Lewiston.
