LEWISTON — The wreck of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 snarled traffic and will affect the morning commute.

Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said the tractor-trailer slammed into barriers at Exit 80 southbound around 5 p.m. The accident destroyed the vehicle and the cab’s fuel tanks were leaking, he said.

The Lewiston southbound exit will remain closed Tuesday night through the morning commute Wednesday and traffic is reduced to one lane.

Further information on the accident was not available late Tuesday night.
