LISBON — The Lisbon School Department has announced kindergarten registration and screening for the 2015-16 school year.

State and federal law mandates that all incoming kindergarten-age children should be screened for possible disabilities. The Lisbon School Department will hold kindergarten screenings this spring at Lisbon Community School, 33 Mill St.

A parent information night will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Lisbon Community School cafetorium.

Registration and screening will be held May 18, 19 and 20. Call Stephanie Doughty at 353-4132 to schedule an appointment.

An official birth certificate, social security number, current immunization record, and documentation of a recent (within one year) physical examination by an M.D., D.O. or a nurse practitioner must be presented at registration.

Pre-K lottery

The Lisbon School Department is accepting names for the public school pre-kindergarten program at Lisbon Community School. This program is for children who will be 4 years old on or before Oct. 15.

Children are selected for attendance in the program by a lottery system. To register for the lottery, contact Stephanie Doughty at the LCS Office at 353-4132. You will need to provide your child’s name, date of birth, address, telephone number(s) and parent(s) names(s).

Class size is limited. Children who are not selected in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.

All names must be on the list by April 2. The lottery will be held on April 3.

If you have already submitted your child’s name, it is not necessary to do so again. Parents will be notified of the lottery results by mail following the drawing.

Students in the pre-K program attend school Monday through Friday. The morning session is held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The afternoon session is held from noon to 2:30 p.m. The Lisbon School Department provides transportation for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Families must provide transportation for the 10:30 a.m. pick-up and noon drop-off.
