As I write this letter, my husband of 42 years and I are in the midst of trying to find an affordable health care insurance plan. Our current insurance company has canceled our policy due to new guidelines imposed by Obamacare.

We are a struggling small business, just the two of us. I also work part-time for the School Department. We have worked our whole lives and have never received any benefits, either locally or state issued. Yet, here we are in our early 60s (and healthy, thankfully) and we cannot find insurance comparable to what we had for less than $1,500 a month. We do not qualify for subsidies.

We should not have to fund a younger, more able-bodied group of people who enjoy insurance rates that cost less than a quarter of what is charged to us.

So much for the golden years.

We should all have the same opportunity for affordable and reasonable rates, no matter what our age group.
