Animal shelter’s Fur Ball is Feb. 20

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Animal Shelter Fur Ball will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at UMF North Dining Hall.

Cost is $20 per family or $5 per ticket.

The ball was postponed from Saturday, Feb. 14.

LOVELL — The Greater Lovell Land Trust’s Owl Prowl scheduled for this Friday night, Feb. 20, has been postponed until Friday, March 6, due to a prediction of cold temps and wind chill in the negative numbers.

The Owl Talk scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 19, is still on.

‘Busting Out’ sing-along postponed

WILTON — The sing-along, Busting Out of Winter with a Song, planned for Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Wilton Congregational Church has been postponed indefinitely.

The event was planned as a fundraiser for the Wilton Food Pantry, Dawn Girardin said.

Fourth Thursday Poetry in Rumford

RUMFORD — Fourth Thursday Poetry program at Rumford Public Library will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26.

Stand Up and Be Counted Day

STATEWIDE — Stand Up and Be Counted Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.

All veterans can go to or contact their nearest veterans service organization — such as Cold War, AMVETS, VFW, VVA, American Legion and DAV — and sign up for their benefits or go online to www.va.gov.

‘Cabin Fever’ supper in New Vineyard

NEW VINEYARD — The annual “Cabin Fever” supper sponsored by the New Vineyard Public Library fundraising committee will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Smith Hall.

This year the home-cooked menu will include baked beans, hot dogs, casseroles, coleslaw, rolls, pies and beverages. Diners will be entertained by talented local musicians. Cost for adults is $5; children 12 and under, $3.50; family deal, $15.
