Fourth Thursday Poetry in Rumford

RUMFORD — Fourth Thursday Poetry program at Rumford Public Library will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26.

Stand Up and Be Counted Day

STATEWIDE — Stand Up and Be Counted Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.

All veterans can go to or contact their nearest veterans service organization — such as Cold War, AMVETS, VFW, VVA, American Legion and DAV — and sign up for their benefits or go online to www.va.gov.

‘Cabin Fever’ supper in New Vineyard

NEW VINEYARD — The annual “Cabin Fever” supper sponsored by the New Vineyard Public Library fundraising committee will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Smith Hall.

This year the home-cooked menu will include baked beans, hot dogs, casseroles, coleslaw, rolls, pies and beverages. Diners will be entertained by talented local musicians. Cost for adults is $5; children 12 and under, $3.50; family deal, $15.

Duplicate Bridge Club results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Feb. 13. A Howell movement was enjoyed.

Finishing first in flight A were Neenie Kivus (Lewiston) and David Lock (Greene), second were Dick Allen (New Gloucester) and Pete Cummings (South Paris), third were Ed Bower Jr. (Parsonfield) and Mike True (Auburn), fourth were Hazel Glazier (Norway) and Marta Clements (Woodstock).

Finishing first in flight B were Mike Newsom (South Paris) and Rick Verrill (Gorham), second were Cindy and Bob Kirchherr (South Paris) who also were first in flight C, third were Milt McKenn (Bridgton) and Jim Krainin (Naples) who also were second in flight C, fourth in B were Mary Colbath (Waterford) and Barbara Vanderzanden (Waterford) who also were third in flight C.

PARIS — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host free workshops titled “Essentials of College Planning” for adults 19 and over at Western Maine University and Community College Center, 232 Main St., at 10 a.m. Mondays, March 2, 16 and 30.
