The classic rock band the Rockin’ Recons, featuring music from the 50s through the 80s, will play for a dance on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St., Lewiston. The Rockin’ Recons are one of the four original PAL Hop bands that were popular in central Maine in the 1960s. After a 20 year hiatus, the band reformed in 1987, and despite some shuffling of members, has been playing regularly since. The active members of the band are, from left, Roger Blais (formerly of the Inkeepers) guitar, percussion and vocals; Ron Vachon, (formerly of the Royal Knights) guitar and lead vocals; Doug Doyer, (formerly with Starfire and Cheex), drummer; Bob Blais, (formerly with Patches), lead guitar and lead vocals; Mike Asselin, (formerly with Truckin’ and Vehicle), keyboard, bass and vocals; and Denny Blais, (son of Bob Blais) has performed with the Recons since 1992, bass and lead vocals. Tickets are $10 per person in advance and $15 at the door.
