This is in response to the article (March 5) regarding the response Gov. Paul LePage made in defense of his proposed budget that would cut funds to the small hospitals.
In the Oxford Hills area, Stephens Memorial Hospital and the Rumford Hospital are the ones residents depend upon for care.
I was on Tri-Town Rescue for many years and in many cases the people we transported depended on the care they received at those two hospitals. In some cases, it was a matter of life or death to get to either one because of the nature of the injury.
I strongly oppose any future cut in funding to those very fine places.
What would area residents do without them?
