WILTON — Police responded to an incident at the end of Pond Road where it connects with Route 2 shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday.
A 30-year-old Wilton resident took his own life, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
The resident called police about 7:20 a.m. and acted confused, she said. He said shots were fired, and the body could be found at the end of Pond Road near Route 2. He then hung up the phone, she said.
Police thought someone had been shot on Wilson Lake.
The body was found at the lake access site, where people launch canoes and kayaks, she said.
Wilton police were helped at the scene by Game Warden Chris McCabe, Jay and Farmington police officers and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies.
