RUMFORD — The Regional School Unit 10 board took a first look Monday night at the proposed $36.7 million budget that would increase assessments to two of 12 towns.
The budget is 1.5 percent more than this fiscal year.
“We’ve been very, very frugal for the past two years,” Superintendent Craig King said. “We will have a half-million dollars carryover, $143,000 toward the nutrition services debt, $143,000 toward the MaineCare debt, and $286,000 to go toward next year.”
No positions were eliminated for 2015-16, unlike the current year when 44 full- and part-time positions were cut.
Towns that would be assessed more starting July 1 are Hanover, $727 increase, and Roxbury, $25,700 increase.
Towns with decreases are Buckfield, $39,800; Byron, $39,300; Canton, $32,300; Carthage, $10,300; Dixfield, $54,800; Hartford, $21,200; Mexico, $26,300; Peru, $57,200; Rumford, $107,600; and Sumner, $9,300.
The district has 2,625 students.
