AUGUSTA — Two Augusta men have been charged with robbery following an incident Friday night on Laurel Street that police believe was drug related.

Tyler Robinson, 26, and Samuel Smith, 24, where each charged with robbery and Robinson was also charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, probation violation and possession of scheduled drugs, according to a release from Augusta police Sgt. Eric Lloyd.

The two men were allegedly in the Laurel Street apartment just before 10 p.m. Friday when the victim arrived and weapons were drawn, Augusta police Sgt. Danny Boivin said Sunday. The alleged victim was told to remove items from his person and leave them, and was then allowed to leave the apartment.

Robinson remained at Kennebec County Jail on Sunday held without bail. Smith is being held on $10,000 cash bail. Both men are scheduled to appear in Kennebec County Superior Court on April 24.
