SABATTUS — A Bowdoinham man was killed Monday morning when his vehicle crossed the centerline on Crowley Road and struck an oncoming car.

Kenneth Hutter, 58, was driving a 2011 Nissan SUV west on Crowley Road in Sabattus, according to a Sabattus Police Department statement. Hutter’s vehicle crossed the centerline as he tried to avoid a cat and collided with an eastbound 2007 Dodge sedan driven by Michelle Lowell of Poland, according to police.

Police arrived about 10:14 a.m. and said Hutter died at the scene. Lowell and her passenger were transported to Central Maine Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were total losses.

The Sabattus Police Department and Maine State Police are still investigating the crash.
