The Maine Department of Transportation will host a public forum regarding general public transit service. This forum is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Mexico, Region 9 Education Center.
A recent statewide analysis of transit services compiled as part of the Maine Strategic Transit Plan 2025 indicates unmet transit needs in these communities. We seek to solicit ideas in order to better meet the need for general public transportation for low income individuals, the elderly, individuals with disabilities and the general public.
The ideas generated at this forum set the foundation for important contributing factors that will affect future investment strategies for general public transit services. The public participation process is an important tenant established by the Commissioner, MaineDOT, in an effort to meet both state and federal transportation planning and funding requirements for transit services.
If you are unable to attend in person you may send MaineDOT your comments via e-mail to: Transit.MaineDOT@maine.gov.
