1944 – 2015

BUCKFIELD — Lester Arnold Crockett, 70, of Buckfield, passed away Monday, May 18, at his residence.

Lester was born in Lewiston, on July 4, 1944, the son of John and Marion (Jack) Crockett. He attended local schools and Buckfield High School.

Lester was a welder and self-employed logger for most of his life. He worked at Bath Iron Works, the tannery and Daniels Construction. An avid outdoorsman, Lester enjoyed four-wheeling, hunting and fishing. Lester also enjoyed dancing, joking and making a presence at his morning hangout, the Buckfield Mall, where he enjoyed his coffee and a hot serving of the local daily gossip.

He leaves behind his son, Scot Crockett and his wife, Jackie, of Buckfield; his daughter, Bonnie (Crockett) Honaker of Turner; two sisters, Rose Anna Gammon and her husband, Roland, of Buckfield, and Alice Allen of Buckfield; his grandchildren, Ethan and Jared Honaker, Carmen Crockett, Molly Farrar and Robert Keach; and his brother at heart and life-long friend, Clark Bonney. He also leaves behind a large extended family and 11 stepchildren, three of whom he shared a special closeness, Dale Daft, Lindsay Keach and Mandy Keach.

He is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Barbara Crockett Hewins; and brother-in-law, Rodney Allen.
