JAY — Selectpersons recently awarded two tax-acquired properties to the highest bidders, Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said Wednesday.

Justin Turner of Wilton bid $15,333 for 14.8 acres of land at 357 Keep Road. The town valued that property at $25,600. The total taxes due were $1,437. The board had put a $5,000 minimum bid on the property to cover the town’s expenses.

There were nine bids for the property ranging from $5,091 to Turner’s high bid.

Selectpersons also awarded a house that sits on 0.18 of an acre at 425 Old Jay Hill Road to sole bidder Wallace Williams of Jay for $16,000. The board had put a $15,000 minimum bid on the property. The town values it at $76,010. The town was owed $4,815 in back taxes and sewer fees.

Selectpersons made the awards on May 11.
